Wild Fitness

Africa Select is
passionate about bringing you every aspect of travel to Africa. Working with Wild Fitness, we bring you the ultimate 9
day or two week fitness and well-being course.
Based on the Kenyan coast at Baraka House on Watamu Beach, one of the top ten beaches in the world, with snow white sand,
azure sea and tropical temperatures, Wild Fitness is located within the Watamu National Marine Park near Malindi.
All the activities at Wild Fitness are underpinned by the most up-to-date scientific research. Their main aim is to
improve the body's functionality. At the beginning of the course, you will undertake a thorough appraisal that measures
your core stability, fitness levels and diet. They then develop a fitness plan to suit your indiviual needs and specific
goals, focussing on endurance, cardio-vascular fitness and Velocity / V02 max.
If there is a particular sport that you are training for, such as the triathlon, they can use a functional training
programme to enhance your performance. With particular sports (swimming, running, biking and some athletic events), they
offer precise technique training.
Their trainers also offer advice on planning your future training programme, giving you race day and sports specific
training tips.
Wild Fitness appeals
not only to the physical part of training, but also tackles the spiritual and mental side. Each course introduces you to
meditation, stress relief, mind expansion, postural correction and yoga, along with breathing for relaxation.
The food is delicious with an emphasis on health and freshness, with lots of fish, fresh vegetables and fruit, pulses
and whole grains, with low sugar and minimum salt. Baraka House is an elegant and peaceful retreat that blends into the
natural environment and offers comfortable simplicity. It has two panoramic rooftop terraces, providing breathtaking views
of the area, comfortable communal areas and balconies. A deserted beach is found at the bottom of Baraka’s garden and an
indigenous forest stretches back from the house.
There are five large en-suite bedrooms, all individually styled with magnificent views of the Indian Ocean.

Kick Start - 9 Day Course
Kick Start offers a physically intense but very holistic approach to health. A schedule of adventurous training with in
depth physical assessments (posture, movement patterns, breathing) and nutritional assessments (metabolic type, present
eating patterns, goals), plus a range of therapies to address any emotional factors and spiritual curiosities. There are
several workshops and a programme to take away with you.
There is half a day off for extra activities / recuperation, which includes yoga and massage. As a result, people can
see a change in posture, ability and body tone, but the main emphasis is on inspiring and informing people and giving them
the knowledge and confidence to change their lives once they return home. Mid-course feedback sessions allow your requests
and individual needs to be addressed and put into action before you leave.
Tool Box - 14 Day Course
This is the same as the nine day course, but with more variety of activities and more time to do one-to-one sessions in
areas of your choice (therapies, swimming coaching, weight training etc.).
One full day off is available for extra activites / recuperation. Over the two weeks, you can see a significant change
in posture, ability, body tone - and you will be well on your way to changing ingrained habits.
A Typical Day
Each day is
different and inspiring. Each session explores a different energy and eco-system at the same time. On some days, there
will be a long expedition that will take most of that day (for example swimming Mida creek / mountain challenge ).
Other days will be based more around the house / chalet. There are some days that are much more intense than others
and the course is shaped so that your body has time to adapt to the training. The day usually starts off with an early
morning session – short and sharp (exercise on the beach, forest run, VO2 Max, etc).
- Breakfast
This is well-earned, fresh and organic. Breakfast is normally a difficult meal to keep healthy and varied and this will
help give you a few good ideas.
- 9.30 am
Posture corrective stretching - each person is given individual stretches.
- 10.30 am
Active recovery in the form of a wade to a sand island, a walk-up a stream or yoga.
- 12.00 am
A practical workshop covering subjects such as nutrition, intelligent training, resistance training, stress management,
meditation and more.
- Lunch
Imaginative salads with good meat and vegetarian options – there is always plenty and you need your fuel on Wildfitness!
- 3.30 am
One-to-one session with our experts: postural measurements and correction, nutritional metabolic typing, massage, energy
work, swimming tips, and more.
- 5.30 am
A ‘big bang’ training session to get the most for your body out of the shortest time: circuits, interval training,
strength work, etc, all using the outdoors and functional movements.
- Dinner
Tasty, nutritious and organic stuff. Food never tastes as good as when you are tired and hungry. Wine and beer
unobtrusively on offer.
