Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Cape Maclear/ Kayak Africa (Mumbo Island for 3 nights)
Meet and greet on arrival in Lilongwe International Airport followed by a 35 min light aircraft charter to the Club Makokola airstrip. It is then a scenic 1 hour road transfer to Cape Maclear where the Kayak Africa base camp is located. Guests either take a boat transfer to the islands or kayak out (with a guide).

The accommodation is on two Islands, off Cape Maclear – Domwe and Mumbo. These consist of 5 tents each on raised platforms with incredible views of Lake Malawi.

Day 4: Mvuu Lodge, Liwonde National Park (3 nights)
Transfer by boat back to the Kayak Africa base camp. It is a leisurely and scenic drive of some 2 – 3 hours to Mvuu Lodge. Liwonde National Park is considered to be the finest park in the whole of Malawi for game and accommodation. It is also said to be one of the top birding locations in Southern Africa.

A great deal of the terrain is Shire River floodplains, much loved by the healthy population of Elephants in this park. They are best viewed during a boat safari on the Shire River, one of the many highlights of a stay at Mvuu Lodge.

Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of a quiet lagoon flowing off the Shire River. The lodge offers comfortable tented accommodation in 5 spacious Meru style safari tents, with their own en suite facilities for a maximum of 10 guests.

Day 7: Departure
Morning transfer to the Mvuu Airstrip for the 1 hour flight back to Lilongwe International Airport and the onward flight.
